Founding History
Abraham Lincoln said ‘The best way to predict the future is to create it.’
My family came back from Vancouver, Canada, to rebuild our lives in Malaysia. Canada is indeed a land of milk and honey – their libraries are filled with unlimited number of story books a child can borrow, storytelling festivals, dramas on stage in Granville Island, and schools with student centred activities. The list goes on…..
Schools were fun, creative learning places. That was what I missed when I went around surveying the city of Kuala Lumpur for such places for my two children then. Alas, there were few and far between. Children were only given choices of learning through the rote system. Learn or else! Surely something can be done? I decided to heed Abraham‘s words – I created the future I wanted with The Language Studio.
We were the first to integrate Speech and Drama into our curriculum. Our three schools’ libraries were stocked with award winning authors books which were easily accessible to all our students. We make our students fall in love with books.
Twenty four years down the road, TLS has turned things around for hundreds of students. They came in with big smiles and some would even make sure their parents would not balik kampung (go back to visit family in smaller towns) for the festive season, before attending TLS! Adults who graduated years ago came ‘home’ to tell of their successes – TLS gave them the best times of their live growing with us. One even went on to Yale University.
Today, TLS International, our door is open to all who dream of a quality education in IGCSE. Our ethos remain firm – a holistic world class curriculum, educating hearts and minds.

Message from the CEO
Celebrating 25 years!
TLS as an educational institution is celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2024! It is a major milestone and we should and will celebrate! Do look forward to exciting times as we usher in our 25th year with a bang!
After 25 years, it is good for us to take time to reflect and to evaluate ourselves. Many good things start well, with good vision, ideas, intentions and goals. You may have heard of the story where the citizens of a port city, decided to build a rescue mission station next to the beach to provide emergency services to the survivors of the ship wrecks that often occur due to the strong currents and bad weather in the region.
At first the rescue mission station was very basic, with no amenities and comfort for the rescue teams stationed there. But they were very effective in rescuing people who were ship wrecked. However as time passed on, the people of the port city, said to themselves, “ we must make sure our rescue team is more comfortable in the rescue mission station.” So improvements were made, and as time passed by, the station became more and more comfortable. Many people started coming, so they made rules and regulations to ensure that only ‘club members’ (for the rescue mission station has become a much sought after club) rights and privileges are protected.
As for the people who continued to be ship wrecked, well, “surely, people other than us can rescue them!”
However, after 25 years, the founders of TLS are still actively involved in the school. The vision that fuelled the passion to give young people a future and a hope through holistic education that transforms hearts and minds is still strong and vigorous. We have not veered away from our founding principles and vision.
On the contrary, we now have 25 years of experience. We have seen many generations of children grown up with us! Our vision and ideals have now been translated into workable realistic principles and operations. We now have a stronger team, headed by our Principal, Ms Tabitha, who has more than 12 years of experience, teaching as a certified teacher in the United States and locally in an international school. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Johns Hopkins University and her focus on Mind, Brain Science and Teaching (MBT) ensures the best learning environment in our school. After 25 years, TLS is still as ‘youthful’ as ever! Most importantly, TLS is now vastly experienced as an educational institution. This is good news for our students!
